About Pav

Married to the Profession? You Could Say That!

I’m Pav Khaira. You might recognise me as the host of the Dental Implant podcast or as a speaker on implants at dental events and symposiums.

My students have called me The Titani-Nerd, the Chat GPT of implants and the Wikipedia of Implantology. They say I’m obsessed with the science of implants. If you noticed the titanium wedding ring I chose for its association with the profession I love, you might be inclined to agree.

But I reckon I’m just like anyone who’s lucky enough to earn their living doing what they love: Eager to learn everything there is to know about the subject and passionate about passing on what I learn so that others can enjoy the same success.

It all started for me after graduating from the University of London and King’s College in 2002, and the conversation with my hero, my grandfather.

I was too inexperienced at the time to help him realise his dream of having functional, fixed teeth.

But I resolved to help as many patients as I could to achieve what my grandfather never could.

I gained a diploma and master’s degree in implantology at the City of London University before travelling to New York to gain a further diploma at Stony Brook, New York. I’ve also travelled far and wide, seeking out and learning from some of the best in the business.

Along the way, I’ve successfully completed thousands of complex full-arch cases and many more simple implant cases.

The Academy of Implant Excellence is my way of sharing my passion and ensuring more people like my grandfather can access life-changing treatment, sharing everything I’ve learned (mistakes and all!) and offering the training and support I wish had been available when I first started out.

You don’t have an origin story like mine—or an encyclopaedic knowledge of implants. (In fact, you don’t even need to be a remarkable dentist!)

All you need is the ambition to start changing lives with implants and referring fewer cases to other clinicians.

With the right practical knowledge and hands-on support, you could be up and running faster than you could imagine (how does 4-6 weeks sound?)
